famous apple dumplings

This is not a healthy recipe & I am not going to claim that it is. It does have apples, so there is that. Put your diet & calories aside for this one because its worth the try, I promise! 

I have been making this for years & if I am in charge of a dessert for a party this is likely requested by many of my brother in laws, father in law, husband and children. Its also the recipe that I have shared with people the most. It is beyond scrumptious. You will be addicted, I can promise you that! If only I could take a photo of the smell running through my house right now, OMG! 

It does have a little secret ingredient that always surprises folks, but that secret ingredient is what makes this dish so darn delicious.

RECIPE: 

INGREDIENTS: 

2 whole
 Granny Smith Apples
2 cans (8 Oz. Cans) Crescent Rolls
2 sticks Butter
1-1/2 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cinnamon, To Taste
1 can (12 Oz.) Mountain Dew Soda {the secret ingredient}

INSTRUCTIONS: 


Peel and core apples. Cut each apple into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.  

Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

& now your hooked ;)
