Regional Overview
The region of Central BC makes up a large portion of the province, so it is no surprise that the geography here is incredibly diverse. The western side of the region is dominated by rain forest, but if you head deeper inland, you will find mountain ranges, plains and grassland.

Central BC is home to numerous ranches, and on any given weekend in the summertime, you鈥檙e bound to come across a rodeo or stampede. Out on the water, adventure seekers paddle the legendary Bowron lake provincial park canoe circuit, and of course there鈥檚 also plenty of hiking, biking, fishing and cross-country skiing.
History buffs will love Barkerville Historic Town, which features restored heritage buildings and summertime Theatre Royal shows that recreate acts once enjoyed by miners from the gold rush era.

For those looking to advance their education, the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George was recently ranked the best small university in Western Canada for the third year in a row by Maclean鈥檚 magazine.
